Affron® Before Bed: A 120-Participant Clinical Trial*

A 28-day randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study investigated 14 mg and 28 mg doses of affron® taken one hour before bedtime in 120 adults with unsatisfactory sleep. *Lopresti AL, Smith SJ, Drummond PD. An investigation into an evening intake of a saffron extract (affron®) on sleep quality, cortisol, and melatonin concentrations in adults with poor sleep: a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-dose study. Sleep Med. 2021;86:7–18. doi:10.1016/j.sleep.2021.08.001.

• Affron® was associated with greater improvements in sleep-quality ratings compared with placebo. †

• Improvements were also observed in insomnia-related outcomes and mood after awakening. †

• Evening melatonin concentrations increased compared with placebo. †

• Improvements were similar between the 14 mg and 28 mg doses. †

Affron® and Sleep Quality: A 28-Day Clinical Trial*

A 28-day randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial investigated affron® at 14 mg twice daily in 63 healthy adults with self-reported sleep problems. Results were based on data from 55 participants. *Lopresti AL, Smith SJ, Metse AP, Drummond PD. Effects of saffron on sleep quality in healthy adults with self-reported poor sleep: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. J Clin Sleep Med. 2020;16(6):937–947. doi:10.5664/jcsm.8376.

• Affron® was associated with greater improvements in insomnia severity compared with placebo.†

• Improvements were also observed in restorative sleep and overall sleep-quality ratings.†

• Most of the reported improvements occurred within the first seven days.†

• affron® was well tolerated, with no reported adverse effects.†

Why We Built NIGHT Differently

CATALYS approaches formulation through Sleep Architecture™ — treating a formula as a deliberate system rather than simply a list of ingredients.
  • Every formula is a system, not a list.
  • Every ingredient has a purpose.
  • Every dose has a reason.
  • NIGHT was created around the idea of designing better support for the body's nighttime rhythm.
